Balboa Park Attractions
If you have never been to Balboa Park, you are in for a huge treat! Balboa Park is a very popular family-friendly venue, and offers diverse experiences for everyone to enjoy. The largest urban cultural park in the U.S., it’s also home to 15 major museums, the San Diego Zoo, and more. Families with children enjoy taking advantage of the:
- Two playgrounds: Morley Field and Pepper Grove
- Street performers (donations accepted)
- Free Tuesday admission (select museums, see more below)
- Free concert at the Organ Pavilion, every Sunday at 2 pm
- Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theatre - Resident puppeteers work with marionettes, hand rods and shadow puppets (Wednesday through Sunday), offering performances throughout the year.
- Kiddie rides: Minitature Railroad ($2 for ages 1 and up, seven days a week: 619.239.0512) , The Balboa Park Carousel (admission: $2, 619.239.0512), and an airplane and butterfly tiny-tot ride (in operation from the third week in June through Labor Day)
