The Escondido Children’s Museum
Where Learning is Fun
The Escondido Children's Museum educates and entertains children of all ages. Offering an array of indoor and outdoor exhibits, the museum offers each and every visit the potential for unique lessons. The multi-sensory and gross motor skills exhibit is perfect for the younger crowd. Toddlers will have so much fun playing, they won't even realize they are learning. The wildlife tree house provides a climbing area as well as a living exhibit of various native plants and animals. The Science Shack, their newest exhibit, has among its hands-on science based experiments, a magnification station, microscopes with slides and a lightning plasma ball.
Outside there is a beautiful garden, with sculptures by Niki de Saint Phalle, the Adobe Ramada Exhibit, constructed of bricks handmade by clay taken from the base of Palomar Mountain. A water table, raised garden beds and "Pioneer Schoolhouse" are other outdoor exhibits which incorporate learning into fun. Thanks to the Escondido Kiwanis Club, the Woodworker's Club of North County and Storage Barns of San Marcos, families can dress-up as 19th Century pioneers.
