Interview with Joanne and Larry Coval, Owners of PlayWerx

What was your inspiration to open PlayWerx?

We were always in search of that perfect place where the kids could have some great healthy fun and we could relax while they were doing it. We couldn’t find it, so we decided to create it ourselves!

What specific features of PlayWerx are you particularly proud of and why?

We are committed to responsible business practices which mean a healthy, clean and safe environment for the children. While we’re kid friendly, but we also designed PlayWerx with adults in mind and as a result, have a great comfortable place to parents to have some down time. We serve some of the best coffee and coffees drinks around and have only healthy snacks and drinks in our café. So we are very proud that we have been able to create a well-rounded environment for the whole family.

How can folks enjoy your facility most affordably?

Our drop in play is everyday with no time limits on your stay and is far easier and less expensive than many other venues. We offer a variety of discount packages to make frequent visits more affordable such as our Tot Pass, our Value Pass and our discounts for large groups visiting PlayWerx.

What specifically do you offer parents in terms of short-term supervision for their children?

We’ve started a ”daily supervised“ play session on weekdays between the hours of 1-3 pm. The rates are the same for this service and a great way for a parent to get a couple of hours to attend to an appointment, run errands or get a short respite during the day. The kids have a blast and it works out to be less than the cost of a babysitter.

Do you have any tips to make the stay more enjoyable?

Most important tip is to remember to bring socks for everyone playing in the play structure (that includes Mom or Dad)!  Bring your laptop. We have free WIFI!

What is your greatest hope for PlayWerx?

Our greatest hope for PlayWerx is that we contribute to the community with a place that is special for both children and parents. We hope we have filled a need and are committed to making PlayWerx better and better over time while adhering to our responsible practices philosophy.
